ASCEND Program

We are excited to announce the launch of our new signature youth enrichment program. The ASCEND program
is open to male and female Fairfax County high school students in grades 9-12. Students are invited to apply for
Cycle 2 of the program which runs from October 2015-June 2016.
ASCEND is a
FREE
program that is designed to motivate, engage, and assist high school students in reaching their
maximum potential. A.S.C.E.N.D will focus on Achievement, Self-Awareness, Communication, Engagement,
Networking, and Developmental Skills.
Students in the ASCEND Program have an opportunity to receive academic enrichment and life skills training to
support their journey to college or vocational employment. Students spend a minimum of 3 hours per month
participating in ASCEND activities including: community service, cultural exposure, STEM activities, and college
and career exploration.
To apply for the ASCEND program, send in the following documents:
1) Completed application
2) GPA verification from your guidance counselor
3) Letter of reference from a teacher, counselor, or school administrator
The initial meeting and kickoff session will be held October 17, 2015 at the George Mason Regional Library, 7001
Little River Tpke. Annandale, VA 22003 from 10:30am-1:00pm. Refreshments will be provided. Please forward
