All ABOUT ME COLLAGE

This Instruction Packet was created by Shannon Frey and modiﬁed by Ursina Amsler

Directions:

● You will be creating an ALL ABOUT ME COLLAGE using Google Slides. This

is a great way for me to learn about YOU!

● YOU MUST HAVE:

➢ A Background

➢ 10 or more layered Visual Symbols that represent your identity and

interests.

➢ Your name, clearly visible

IDEAS OF WHAT TO INCLUDE:



HOBBIES, TALENTS, SKILLS, RELIGION,

ETHNICITY, PETS, FAMILY, MUSIC,

FAVORITE BAND OR CELEBRITY,

HOLIDAYS, SEASONS, FRIENDS, FOODS,

SYMBOLS, LOGOS, HOUSE, TOWN,

MAPS of your town, ETC!

Directions for Set up EVERYONE MUST START WITH THESE STEPS!

● Open a new tab and go to Google Slides.

(Drive → “Wae”/Apps → Slides → start new)

● Get rid of pre-placed text boxes: (layout → blank)

● Resize:

(File → Page Set up → Custom → 10 by 8)

● Title Your slide as instructed by your teacher

● Share Document with your teacher

● Choose a BACKGROUND for your Collage by clicking “Choose Image” either from

the web or a saved image in your drive

● Once you have chosen a background for your ALL ABOUT ME COLLAGE,

start with one you think will work best. After you add your Images you may

ﬁnd you may need to change the background if you get a better idea. Here

is an example:

● Next, we will start Google Searching images for our All ABOUT ME COLLAGE.

You will copy/paste images you ﬁnd and place on your Collage. YOU MUST

SEARCH IMAGES WITH A TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND. Here is an example:

Good Search Words:

“Transparent”

“PNG”

“No Background”

Directions for formatting images:

● If you ﬁnd out your image has a background you can not get rid of ( I do not

want the white space around my coee cup) and still want to use the

image…..Try the option on the next slide...

Directions for Removing Backgrounds from Images::

● Here is a trick.

● Save the image you want to your download folder

● Go to the following site: https://www.remove.bg/ & Click “UPLOAD IMAGE”

● Upload the Image you saved in your DOWNLOADS folder and it will take the

background away

● Once your Image has a background removed these are the results. I clicked

“INSERT”, “IMAGE “, “UPLOAD FROM COMPUTER”. Your image should be

saved in your DOWNLOADS folder on the drive. You can resize and place

where you wish within your collage.

Directions for Resizing and Repositioning::

● You can FLIP (right click on image and choose ROTATE)

● You can ENLARGE & MINIMIZE (click on image till Blue box appears. Only

use a corner to adjust the size smaller or larger, this keeps the image to

scale and proportion)

● If you choose to TURN THE ANGLE (click on the image till you see the blue

box around the image. Click the blue circle at the top and turn the image

till you like the direction and placement)

Directions for Re-Ordering::

● You can OVERLAP (right click on image you want to place on top of another

image, click “ORDER”, and this will allow one image to move in front of

another)

TIP:Try to avoid “floating straight edges” as seen with the Disney characters and Gummy Bears.

Advanced techniques: Each image’s transparency can be adjusted to create very

softly layered effects. To adjust an image’s transparency, do the following:

Select image > click “format” (top tab) > select “Format options” > select “Adjustments”
