Prosthetic Repair Impression Guide
Rebasing/Relining
Rebasing
Process of refitting a denture by replacing the denture
base material without changing teeth or occlusal
relation of the teeth.
Relining
Procedure used to refit the tissue surface of a denture.
This is done by placing a new acrylic “wash” into the
denture, duplicating the new form of the oral structures
in the mouth.
Dentures
Indications:
• Every ve years
• To increase retention of old dentures (due to recent
extractions or alterations to the ridge)
• Avoids the necessity of remaking them entirely
• Persistent fractures
• Poor t
Procedures:
• Trim internal surface from the denture to avoid increas-
ing vertical dimension and allow space for impression
material (suggested material PVS Monophase, tissue
conditioner or Polyether), apply adhesive and take a
wash impression.
• Before the material sets, ensure the patient is in centric
occlusion (have patient bite while the material sets).
• Remove and disinfect the impression.
• Send to Assured Dental.
Partials
Indications:
• Every ve years
• Avoids the necessity of remaking them entirely
• Poor t
Procedure:
• Trim internal surface from the partial to avoid increas-
ing vertical dimension and allow space for impression
material (suggested material PVS Monophase, tissue
conditioner or Polyether), apply adhesive and take a
wash impression.
• Once the wash material sets, take an impression over
the partial in place.
• Allow for appropriate setting of time of material, then
remove impression from the mouth keeping the partial
in the impression.
• Pour immediately or send it to Assured Dental accord-
ing to the materials instructions (different materials
working/pour-up times vary, see instructions).
• Take and send opposing arch and bite registration
along with pick-up impression.
Acrylic Repairs
Flange Fracture
If you have the broken piece, glue (Krazy Glue) it and
verify the t in the patient’s mouth and send it to As-
sured Dental.
If a new piece is necessary, take an impression with
the appliance in place.
• Allow for appropriate setting time of the material, then
remove impression from the mouth keeping the partial
in the impression.
• Pour immediately or send it to Assured Dental accord-
ing to the materials instructions (different materials
working/pour-up times varies, see instructions).
Midline Fracture
If the fracture has a clean break, glue (krazy Glue) the
pieces together, verifying the t in the patient’s mouth.
Send to Assured Dental.
Cracks
Send to Assured Dental as is.
Replace Lost Tooth
Send the appliance to Assured Dental along with the

Add Additional Tooth to an
Existing Partial
Take an impression with the partial in place and remove
prosthesis from the mouth, keeping the partial in the
impression and send it to Assured Dental along with the
opposing arch, bite registration and shade if necessary.
Cu-Sil (Gasket Replacement)
• Remove the old Cu-Sil
• Place the denture into the mouth and inject the
impression material around the tooth (use light body or
Monophase material).
• Ensure that the material replicates the space left for the
Cu-Sil and the entire surface of the abutment teeth.
Cu-Sil Reline
• Remove all Cu-Sil
• Trim the internal surface from the denture to avoid in-
creasing the vertical dimension and allow space for im-
pression material (use PVS Monophase or Polyether),
apply adhesive and take a wash impression.
• Ensure that the material replicates the space left for the
Cu-Sil and the entire surface of the abutment teeth.
Cast Partial Repairs
Broken Clasp or Major Connector
• Take the impression with the partial in place.
• After the proper setting time, remove the impression
keeping the partial in the impression.
• Pour immediately or send it to Assured Dental accord-
ing to material instructions.
• If you have the clasp, send it along with the partial still
in the impression.
Partial Denture Refit

the impression or model along with the partial to As-
sured Dental.
Crown & Bridge
Crown under Partial Impression Technique
Without Sending Partial
• Take a standard impression of the preparation site with
the technique of your choice (without partial in place).
Take opposing impression and bite registration.
• Make an index for relation of partial to the crown
preparation (do not be concerned about the margins
with this index, pay attention to capturing the clasp(s)
and rest(s) only.
• Make an index for relation of partial to the crown
preparation (do not be concerned about the margins
with this index, pay attention to capturing the clasp(s)
and rest(s) only.
• Inject Blu-Mousse Super Fast (recommended to reduce
chair time) around the prep site, clasp(s) and rest(s).
• Once the Blu-Mousse material has set (30 seconds),
remove the partial with the index attached and trim
the Blu-Mousse material so the outer portion of the
clasp(s) and rest(s) are exposed.
• Trim away any material that does not allow the index
to be removed. Remove the index from the partial by
pushing index in an apical direction.
• Temporize the preparation and send the impressions,
