1. What is Powerball®?
Powerball has the highest starting jackpot of any game in the country and can be played in 45 jurisdictions. It is operated
by the MultiState Lottery Association (MUSL). As of January 1, 2012, it is sold in 43 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S.
Virgin Islands. Visit powerball.com to find all participating jurisdictions.
Powerball has a total of nine prize levels including the grand/jackpot prize level starting at $40 million. The
nongrand/jackpot prizes range from $4 to $1,000,000*.
*All nongrand/jackpot prizes are guaranteed prizes. If funds are insufficient to pay guaranteed prizes, nongrand/jackpot prizes may be paid on a parimutuel basis
and could be lower than the amounts shown in the prize chart.
2. What is Power Play®?
Power Play is an addon feature to Powerball that gives players a chance to increase their nongrand/jackpot prize
winnings for just $1 more per play. Effective January 19, 2014, the Power Play feature will use a multiplier to determine
non-grand/jackpot prizes in tiers 3 through 9. The Power Play pool of numbers will contain 5 number 2s, 3 number 3’s,
one number 4 and one number 5. The second-tier (Match 5+0) prize will be a set $2 Million if the Power Play feature is

3. How do Powerball sales benefit Texas?
As with all other draw games offered by the Texas Lottery®, the proceeds from Powerball ticket sales in Texas are
transferred to the Foundation School Fund to benefit public education in Texas.
4. What is the largest Powerball jackpot to date?
As of December 20, 2013, the largest Powerball jackpot was $590.5 million won in Florida on May 18, 2013.
5. Where can I view the Powerball drawings?
Powerball drawings may be viewed via the Web Cast located under the Games section on the Texas Lottery website
(txlottery.org) and also on the Powerball website (powerball.com). Local TV stations may choose to air the Powerball
drawings with the normal Texas Lottery broadcast at 10: 12 p.m. CT or display onscreen winning numbers following each
drawing. Check with your local television stations to verify their Texas Lottery drawings coverage.
HOW TO CLAIM A PRIZE
6. Is the $1 million secondtier prize paid in cash or as an annuity?
The $1 million secondtier (Match 5+0) prize will be a onetime cash payment less applicable taxes. The prize may be
claimed at any Texas Lottery claim center or at the Texas Lottery Commission Headquarters in Austin. All Powerball
prizes over $1 million and all Powerball grand/jackpot prizes must be claimed at Texas Lottery Headquarters in Austin.

7. How long will it take to get my Powerball jackpot prize payment?
The earliest you may receive your Powerball grand/jackpot prize is on the 17
th
day after the draw date. If you believe

8. Can I claim a Texas Powerball winning ticket in another Powerball state?
No, all prizes must be claimed in the state where the Powerball ticket was purchased.
