Create Your Own Math Board Game
You will create a math game that relates to at least one concept we have covered
in math this year.
Please complete all the requirements below:
TOPIC: Circle one topic from the list provided, which your game will review.
Addition (Whole #s and Decimals)
Subtraction (Whole #s and Decimals)
Division (like 973 / 45 )
Multiplication (like 492 x 76)
Comparing Fractions
Changing Between Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions
Comparing Whole Numbers and Decimals
Rounding and Estimating (Whole #s and Decimals)
Perimeter, Area and Volume
Factors, Prime and Composite Numbers
Create the following items for your game:
Theme: Create a theme for your game (sports, zombies, fashion, fantasy, space, etc)
Math Directions: Write down clear, step-by-step directions on how to solve problems in
the topic you chose.
Game Directions: Must be clear, step-by-step instructions on how to play the game.
They must include:
1. Number of Players 4. Step by Step Instructions
2. Materials Included 5. How a Player Wins
3. Goal of the Games 6. Answer Key Included
Game Board: Design a colorful, neat board with a start to finish.
Game Pieces: Choose or create dice, pennies, rocks, paper pieces, tokens, etc. that fit
your theme. There must be at least 4 game pieces.
Game Cards: There must be at least 30 game cards with problems over the topic you
have chosen. The answer key must be included on a separate paper.
Top of Your Game Box:
Create the packaging for your game. You will need to find some type of box (shoe box,
gift box, old cereal box, etc.). If there is writing on the box, you will need to completely
cover it. The outside of your box must include the following items:
1. Name of your games, number of players and intended age of players
2. A catchy advertisement/slogan that would attract someone to play your
games. (Example: Pirate theme “Arrrr! Simplify these fractions of prepare to walk the
plank!”)
3. Two reviews of the game
a. Example: “Over 1 million sold… the best educational game to learn how to add
fractions!)
4. A picture or illustration that relates to your game. This might be a picture of
the game board, a picture or illustration of people playing your game, etc.
5. A brief summary (3-5 sentences) of how the game is played, neatly
handwritten.

elements of the project on time. You will have time to work on all aspects of the
