Important Information about AMCAS’s New Choose Your Medical School Tool for 2022
The AAMC has changed how it reports multiple accept information between medical schools. AMCAS will no longer
share ANY joint acceptance or waitlist data between schools while the cycle is active. This change means that we will not
have information about where you have applied or the status of your candidacy elsewhere unless you share it directly
with us. In the past, multiple accept reports have assisted schools in projecting enrollment in order to avoid over- or
under-subscribing their classes. All schools are now depending on the professionalism and accurate reporting of
applicants to help us fill our classes in a timely and efficient manner.
There are two options in the new AMCAS Choose Your Medical School tool. We want to explain what they are, how
schools will use them, and why you should make every effort to utilize these tools. These tools become active on
February 18, 2022 for any and all applicants with at least one acceptance.
Plan to Enroll (PTE)
This function should be used to indicate which school, among those from whom you have received offers, you plan to
attend at the moment. It will be made available February 18, 2022. Even if you only have one option, you should
utilize the PTE option in AMCAS. You may change this designation at any time. No specific information is shared with
any school when you select this option until April 29, the nationwide deadline for choosing a school per the traffic rules.
Between February 15 and April 29 we will only receive aggregate data of the number of offers we have extended, and
the total number of PTE designations our school has received. This helps us know if we need to extend more interviews
or more offers in order to fill our class.
You are free to use the PTE function for the duration of the cycle, until you are within the designated school-specific
deadline for having to commit to only one school. Please note that each medical school has a unique deadline. After
April 30 we will see whether you have selected PTE for our school or PTE “for another medical school.” We will not be
made aware of the name of the other school.
If you are holding a seat at a school, but your top choice is another school at which you are an alternate, you should
indicate PTE for your current school. (Remember the PTE is your current intent based on current options.) However,
you should actively reach out to the school where you are an alternate and express your interest and intent to
matriculate if offered a seat. In our process, a letter of intent would be seen as intent to matriculate if offered a seat in
the class.
Commit to Enroll (CTE)
This function will be made available on April 29, 2022, and this is the earliest date you will be allowed to make the CTE
designation. Only select this function if you…
1) …have withdrawn your candidacy completely (you may not be on any waitlists) from ALL other institutions to which
you applied including MD, DO, off shore, or TMDSAS schools.
2) …are 100% sure about your decision to attend the school for which you are selecting CTE.
3) …are 100% okay with AMCAS notifying all other schools to which you applied that you have indicated CTE at another
medical school.

It is important to note that some schools, including Stritch, will automatically withdraw you upon receiving a notification
that you have chosen the CTE designation and committed to another school.
We ask that you utilize the AMCAS PTE and CTE tools so that we can collectively ensure the best outcomes for all applicants
in a timely and efficient manner. Your delay or failure to participate will mean that a future colleague may not know the
fate of their application until much later or may miss an opportunity due to timing. Both schools and AMCAS will be
sending periodic reminders.
Stritch School of Medicine Applicant Portal
In order to further manage our admissions process to
avoid over- or under-subscribing our class, we have
designed a more specific, dynamic acceptance portal for
our applicants. We ask that you share information with
us about your candidacy elsewhere if you feel
comfortable doing so. We will NEVER share this
information with another school, nor will we attempt to
verify it, as school to school communication about
applicant candidacies is now strictly prohibited per the
updated AMCAS agreement. If you choose to share
information with us, it will not impact your admission
offer. You will NOT be penalized for sharing it or not
sharing it. It is simply an act of applicant citizenship to
share it the information at the AMCAS level and school
level becomes useful only if the majority of applicants
participate. We will begin sending applicant portal
update reminders on the 15
th
of each month, starting in
October, until the class is set.
Our final decision deadline to indicate CTE within AMCAS is June 1, 2022.
If we do not receive confirmation of your CTE indication by May 30th, we will notify you via email. You will have 24 hours
to respond to our notice. We will then withdraw your seat and offer it to another candidate.
Thank you for your professionalism and courtesy to us and your fellow applicants throughout the cycle.
