If the conditions of a particular vintage is favorable, some producers will make a "Vintage
Champagne"; this wine must be composed of at least 85% of the grape from the vintage year.
Cuvee Champagne is the finest that Champagne region has to offer.
Most of the Champagne produced today is "Non-Vintage" meaning that is a blend of wine from
multiple vintages.

produce some great white wines from the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grape. Other

White Tuscan wines will always be famous because of Vernaccia Di San Gimignano being the
first wine in Italy to be granted DOC status.
The wines of this region have noticeable Slavic and Germanic influences. There are eleven DOC and
three DOCG wines in this high quality wine region.
Although the Venezie collectively produce more red wine that white , the Veneto region produces
more whites under DOC and is home to the famous Soave wines.

The region is nicknamed "the Green Heart of Italy". Wines from the region are often under
appreciated, overshadowed by the famous neighbor Tuscany, but the region is capable to
produce high quality wines of expression, like the indigenous Sagrantino.
The big star of the region is the native Aglianico Grape, which is often referred to as the
Nebbiolo of the South.

French Red Wines
Bordeaux is one of France most important fine wine regions, it produces large quantities of
wine, ranging from everyday table wine, to some of the most prestigious and expensive wines
in the world. Vineyards are located on both sides of the Gironde River, which flows through the
region. Red Bordeaux wines are generally made from a blend of grapes; Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carmenere.
The most prestigious Appelations are located in the Haut-Medoc AOP, home to some of the
world's most distinguished and iconinc producers of Cabernet Sauvignon based blend wine,
enshrined in the famous 1855 Classification of Bordeaux. Commissioned by Emperor Napoleon III,
this Classification ranked the top Bordeaux properties, categorized by price into first through fifth
growth.

The most important Appelations are Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. Wines of those communes are
both Merlot based blends, usually 70-80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc. Percentages may
vary by Chateau.
Saint Emilion AOP has its own classification, which is revised every 10 years, based on changes
in stature on a peer-revision tasting of the wine.
Compared to Saint-Emilion, Pomerol is small AOP. Merlot is particularly successful in Pomerol
clay based soil, as evidenced by the lagendary wine of Chateau Petrus. Wine of this small
commune have a reputation for being hedonistic, plump and opulent.
The most famous wines produced here are made from Pinot Noir grapes. You can also find
some gamay grape in the southern region of Beaujolais, but wines from these sub-regions are
not refered as "red Burgundies".

Over the last 15 years Argentina is learning and changing quantity for quality. A lot of new
techniques and new wineries are being opened around the entire country. Mendoza is the
largest viticultural region and accounts for more than two thirds of the country's total wines
production.
This country has great potential and little by little is becoming one of the world's top wine
producers.
